POSITION TITLE: Community & Economic Development Coordinator

Location: Salt Lake City, Utah

Compensation: $26.00–$29.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience

Employment Type: Full-Time | Hourly | Non-Exempt

Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 7:30 a.m.–6:00 p.m. (40 hours/week)

Occasional evening and weekend work is required for meetings, outreach, and community events.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Business Engagement, RDBA & North Temple Corridor

  • Serve as NeighborWorks Salt Lake's primary staff liaison for the River District

  • Business Alliance (RDBA), coordinating meetings, communications, member engagement, and collaborative initiatives.

  • Build meaningful relationships with business owners, entrepreneurs, commercial property owners, community organizations, and public partners.

  • Work with NeighborWorks leadership and the RDBA Board to support initiatives that strengthen the Westside business community.

  • Support community engagement and collaboration related to the North Temple Corridor and other neighborhood revitalization efforts.

Community Outreach

  • Build strong relationships with residents, neighborhood organizations, nonprofit organizations, and public agencies throughout Salt Lake County.

  • Represent NeighborWorks Salt Lake at community meetings, outreach events, workshops, and neighborhood activities.

  • Facilitate community conversations and public engagement activities that encourage resident participation and strengthen partnerships.

  • Help recruit volunteers and support signature community events and neighborhood initiatives.

  • Promote NeighborWorks Salt Lake programs and identify opportunities to expand community participation.

Program Support & Administration

  • Support outreach and recruitment for NeighborWorks Salt Lake programs, including the Westside Leadership Institute, YouthWorks, and other community initiatives.

  • Coordinate meetings, schedules, communications, and project activities to ensure successful implementation of assigned initiatives.

  • Maintain accurate records, track outcomes, and assist with reporting using Salesforce and other systems.

  • Assist with newsletters, promotional materials, social media content, and community communications.

  • Perform other related duties that support the mission of NeighborWorks Salt Lake.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Community Development, Economic Development, Public Administration, Business Administration, Public Policy, Nonprofit Management, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

  • At least three years of professional experience in community development, economic development, neighborhood revitalization, community engagement, partnership development, or a related field.

  • A genuine passion for serving people and strengthening communities.

  • Outstanding communication, relationship-building, and collaboration skills.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Experience working collaboratively with residents, businesses, nonprofit organizations, and public agencies.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn Asana or similar systems.

  • Valid driver's license and the ability to travel throughout Salt Lake County.

Preferred

  • Experience working with business associations, chambers of commerce, or membership organizations.

  • Experience collaborating with local governments or economic development organizations.

  • Knowledge of Salt Lake City's Westside neighborhoods and community assets.

  • Professional proficiency in English and Spanish.

  • Experience coordinating community events, volunteer programs, or public engagement activities.
